Floating on Facebook...

Just came across these pictures today on Facebook from Dolphin Sails and Fox's Marina!

Sprayhood fitted

Arriving at Fox's Marina

The comment from Fox's Marina "Another stunning, new Oyster 475 yacht arrives at Fox's Marina & Boatyard where she will be rigged by the team at Fox's Rigging and commissioned ready for handover to her lucky new owner."

Yay that's us!

Finally, I had time today to put together a video from our visit in February 2016; walking through the interior.

Mast In!

This is all getting a bit serious now that we might actually go to sea in this boat that has been our project for the last 2 years. The mast is now in but there's still a lot to do on the rig.

The project plan is slowly getting eaten away, we have had a busy couple of weeks:

- Registration is finalised and on it's way
- MMSI has been issued, so the guys at Oyster can program all our equipment
- Insurance for Askari has been arranged
- We have terminated our lease on the rental house and started advertising stuff, including our very much loved "Disco Dave' seen below - I think this is where the grey obsession started!

Esperance Western Australia - one of the most beautiful spots on this earth!

- We have arranged a storage unit
- Bought Australian artwork for Askari - both local and aboriginal pieces.
- We had the first of our 'final catch ups' with friends
- Sarah came to visit, we planned her trips on board Askari and she helped out with T-shirt designs, while also hanging out at the beach, bike riding and drinking too much!

Tonight we are off to a Marine Safety night at Fremantle Sailing Club - on St Patricks Day?!?

47 days to go!

The A Team

That's A for Askari.......

She's due to leave Wroxham and make the journey to Ipswich for launch and commissioning, so we just received this team photo on board in the Spring sunshine. These are the fabulous guys that built Askari. We have met most of them; a great team with a lot on humour and attention to detail. Our A team!

Our Askari Team in Wroxham

This time last year....

These pictures just popped up on my Facebook from a year ago today and it was one of my favourite days in the Askari build. We spent the day on Mersea Island with Dolphin Sails who are making the sails and covers and Passmores who are doing the upholstery for us. Carolyn especially enjoyed Passmores visit as they have this gorgeous show room which is tiny and fitted out like the interior of a yacht, but with heaps of fabric books and cushions to work through. They also had a bunk set up so you can test the foam and mattresses - so much fun! Although we never did manage to find exactly the right scatter cushion.....

You get to Mersea Island via a causeway and despite checking the tide we managed to get stranded due to some strange atmospheric conditions; so what else to do but head to the pub.....

It most definitely is.....

A bit of branding!!

I ended up having a little bit of fun on the vistaprint website - only boat cards and a stamp were on my shopping list....

The cards have come out really nicely and only cost $20. I don't think anything else for Askari has cost so little!

Next up t-shirts I think!!

The best bit is Andrew doesn't know and is currently flying home from New York. I know he'll check the blog when he's in transit for his flight to Perth as he likes to see the count down - so I hope you like them honey, see you tomorrow  ðŸ˜˜

60 days to go....
