Course 022 degrees
Speed 7.4 knots
Wind East 15 knots
Distance in 24 hours 162 miles

Well I said it's not boring and the last 24 hours have had a bit of everything….. perfect gentle sailing in flat seas and 10-12 knots of wind, no wind, big rain squalls with and without wind, one squall where the wind clocked completely around and now good wind but the most confused horrid sea I can remember.

We have decided we are heading to Bermuda as are a few of the other boats that were heading to the US east coast. There is a cold front followed by a low expected to be in gulf stream region just when we were likely to get there - talk of 40 knots of wind with gusts to 50 in squalls on top of wind against the 4 knots of current - ah no thanks. So even though we are not having the best sail right now we don't want to chance those conditions so Bermuda here we come.

We do need to try and make as much East as we can so are sailing as hard on the wind as is comfortable in these seas. We hope the sea will settle down now we have escaped the trough that we have been sailing under for the last couple of days - that was quite dramatic to look back on when we came out - a huge dark line of cloud.

So about 379 miles to Bermuda - we should be there at the weekend. There's lots of talk on the radio of parties when we get there and then there's the lead up to the Americas Cup which should be interesting.
